Red Wall and Rope, Singapore

Red Wall and Rope, Singapore

“Always carry a camera; it’s much easier to take pictures that way.” This is the major advice I give to my classes. What I’m trying to convey is that I try never to go out shooting, but to always have a camera with a lens on it – nothing else. Because the more equipment you take, the less pictures you take.

This image was shot in Singapore. I was on a commercial job shooting bankers in their offices – really limiting. I was finished with one shot and was on my way to another location when I saw this. Again, I got two shots off before the guy was gone; one with his head, one without. I think the one without the head works best, but if you asked me why, I’d say it’s intuitive and has no logical reason.
